We recommend the Tipperary Sportage helmet (left) or the International ATH helmet (right).

To be properly fitted for a helmet, you should visit an area tack shop.   Helmet should fit snugly without causing pain.

Footwear: leather shoes that cover your toes are a basic necessity. Shoes should have at least a 1/4" heel to prevent your foot from slipping through the stirrup.   Proper footware helps prevent injuries to feet in the event the rider gets stepped on.  And it also supports the rider's ankles for better balance.  It also slides easily from the stirrup in the event of rider fall.

Tall boots are not necessary for beginning riders.  Paddock boots (left) are more appropriate and cost effective.

What you will want

Riding pants The seams in breeches make for comfortable riding in the saddle. Their light elasticity makes them more comfortable than jeans.  Jeans are not allowed  because of the damage they do to our tack.

Riding gloves are strongly recommended.  Riders beyond the beginner level will be required to ride in gloves as it helps for even contact on the reins.  Gloves also protect the rider from blisters and hang nail injuries.  Riding gloves are made for all types of weather.
